Description: 

Böhler FOX CN 23/12-A is a rutile-coated, core-wire alloyed E 23 12 L / E309L-17 type stick electrode with an increased ferrite content in the weld metal. This ferrite content ensures high crack resistance in materials that are otherwise difficult to weld, such as austenitic-ferritic joints and weld claddings. This electrode is characterized by particularly excellent weld results and can be processed with both direct current and alternating current. It produces a self-releasing slag and is suitable for applications in a temperature range from -60ºC to 300ºC. For weld claddings, it can even be used up to 400ºC.

Böhler FOX CN 23/12-A is primarily suitable for cladding (buffer layers) on unalloyed or low-alloy steels as well as for joining non-molybdenum-alloyed stainless steels with unalloyed, austenitic, or heat-resistant steels.

Some important notes: Preheating and interpass temperature should be adjusted to the respective base material. The recommended heat input should be a maximum of 2.0 kJ/mm. In exceptional cases, re-drying at 250 to 300ºC for at least 2 hours may be necessary. Normally, however, no post-weld heat treatment is required. If you are working on structures with low-alloy steels in dissimilar joints, it may be advisable to perform a stress-relief treatment. It is always recommended to consult the base material supplier or experts to ensure the correct heat treatment process is applied.
